If you’re running a business and not working in the weeds of digital marketing, it can be overwhelming to stay on top of the latest updates and trends that are coming to market each and every day. From Google AdWords and Analytics, to the ins-and-outs of social media advertising, to new apps and technologies,  the changing digital landscape can make it difficult to stay in-the-know of what’s changing, and what new opportunities your business could benefit from.

If this is true for you, check out these five blogs you can follow to help you stay on top of what’s new in SEO, social media, business, and tech every day.

Search Engine Journal

Search Engine Journal’s name is not completely indicative of everything it covers. While the site does track search engine updates, including Google, Bing, and Yandex, it also provides advice on how to make your online presence better and create effective, relevant content quicker. Search Engine Journal also occasionally runs an article on the life of a digital marketer, such as “The Top 7 Causes of Stress for Digital Marketers.”

The Verge

The Verge covers all aspects of technology. Under the Tech and Web sections, you can find information on everything, from the best laptops to buy, to data breaches, changing internet laws, app updates, and more.

The Verge is the place to go for details on laws and ongoing litigation. On the site, you will find articles you do not usually find elsewhere, but are still relevant to your business. For example, few other sites are following what France’s decision to take possession of France.com from a 20-year-old travel site means for other established businesses.

TechCrunch

Like The Verge, TechCrunch’s focus is not social media, SEO, and digital marketing. Even so, TechCrunch has an excellent section on Social news, which has a heavy focus on user privacy, new social media platform features, and business deals.

Search Engine Land and Marketing Land

Search Engine Land and Marketing Land are technically two different websites, however, they are so closely related that, if you read one, you will end up reading both for a holistic view of the digital marketing industry.

Naturally, Search Engine Land is the site that covers search engine news. Unlike most search engine-centric sites, which have tendency to focus on Google, Search Engine Land covers Google and Bing equally.

Marketing Land covers a wider range of topics and has some overlap with Search Engine Land. Some articles are published on both websites. Marketing Land is where you go to find out what the major tech companies are doing. The site has the usual updates on the popular social media platforms, as well as information on changes to Amazon, lawsuits, and government actions that affect Google and Facebook.

Taking time to stay up-to-date on the latest MarTech news can help you stay on the cutting edge in business, digital marketing, and technology. While it can be time consuming to keep up with all five of these websites, try following each of them on social media for access to shorter content in real-time!
