Facebook advertising is a beautiful thing.

I’m not just saying this because I do it for a living; it is one of the areas of digital marketing that truly continues to fascinate me. That is why I often find it surprising to find out that many small businesses still haven’t gotten on board.

Let’s face it. Traditional advertising tactics just aren’t working anymore. Billboards, a person in a chicken suit on the side of the road, flyers on your community bulletin board, and even organic social media posts just aren’t going to cut it in today’s digital era.

No matter if you’re B2B or B2C, large or small, your business can benefit from Facebook advertising to get the phones ringing and new faces in the door. Here are a four reasons why:

You’ll Reach People Where They Are

On their smartphone, of course! Here’s an interesting statistic to think about: people check their cell phones up to 150 times a day, equaling every 6 minutes!

To top it off, over one billion people use Facebook on their phone each month. Do the math and let that sink in. Even if you could reach a minuscule fraction of that audience, wouldn’t it be worth it?

Chances are, when scrolling through your newsfeed, you don’t even notice that a chunk of those posts are paid advertisements (I know my parents don’t – and they LOVE Facebook…a lot). Don’t you want your business to show up there too? Don’t you want my parents’ business?

In all seriousness, though, I have no shame in saying that if it’s enticing enough, I’ll click through — even as a skeptical millennial. All you need is that one click to open a new realm of possibilities for you to educate prospective customers and bring in new business.

You CAN Afford It

When talking to new or prospective clients, one of the most common reasons why they’re so hesitant to get started in Facebook advertising is their budget.

We know it can be difficult to fork over the cash, especially for small or new startup businesses, but in our experience, it’s definitely worth it!

The great thing about Facebook advertising is that you can yield big results on a small budget. Here’s a formula from Social Media Examiner that shows how you can get started on a small budget of under $350 a month.

Advanced Targeting Rocks

Did you know that you can target your email list? Your website visitors? An entirely new audience with similar characteristics of your audience? With Custom Audiences you can reach people who already know you and are more likely engage with your ads. With Lookalike Audiences, you can target new people based on your existing lists.

And let’s not forget to mention location, behavior, and interest targeting, too. Heck, you can target people based on the car that’s sitting in their driveway. Creepy or not, it’s super effective. The possibilities are endless, you just need to find out what works best for your business!

It’s Always Evolving

This year, I took a step back from Facebook advertising for a few months to explore other areas of digital marketing, while a colleague of mine took over my accounts. Recently, as I went to dive back in, I noticed new targeting options, new ad styles, and much more. The best part? It’s only going to get better. It’s only going to get more evolved.
